Taking a Caribbean cruise? Here are some of the best beaches to visit in Bonaire

Bonaire is one of the least visited islands in the Caribbean, which is a good thing for travelers. Its beaches are clean and uncrowded, perfect for anyone who wants a quiet and intimate vacation experience.

One major difference between beaches in Bonaire and those found on other islands is the crushed coral that leads you into the water instead of just white sand. The unique experience of visiting a Bonaire beach is not something that you’ll want to pass up on your Caribbean cruise vacation.

Here is our list of the top beaches in Bonaire from your friends at CruiseExperts.com:

Boka Slagbaai

The Washington Slagbaai National Park accounts for 20 percent of Bonaire’s total land area. There are many small beaches in the park, but most are not safe for swimming. Boka Slagbaai is the notable exception. The water is gentle and and a great place for wading and snorkeling. There is also a group of 19th century buildings located on the beach that house a restaurant, bar, showers and restrooms.

Eden Beach

Located just a few miles north of Bonaire’s capital of Kralendijk, Eden Beach is perfect for vacationers who want a hassle-free beach experience with all of the amenities. Visitors here have easy access to food, drink and shade and can spend their time at the beach’s restaurant and bar. At the south end of Eden there is a dive shop that maintains a small pier from which you can spot various sea creatures. The calm waters of Eden also make it an ideal snorkeling location.

Lac Bay Beach and Sorobon

Lac Bay and Sorobon are located next to each other on Bonaire’s southeastern coast. Although many beaches on this part of the island have rough surf, Lac Bay and Sorobon are the calm exceptions. Water depth at Lac Bay only averages about two feet, making it a safe location for the entire family. Both beaches are also popular spots for windsurfing and many competitions are held there. Concessions and snack bars are available.

No Name Beach

Also known as Klein Bonaire (Little Bonaire), No Name Beach features Bonaire’s white-sand strip of coastline. The area is isolated, but a quick trip by water taxi will get you to the uninhabited islet. There are no facilities at No Name, so be sure to bring snacks and protection from the sun. This beach is also a great place for snorkeling and you’ll see schools of colorful fish just underneath the surface.
