Cruising Basics
What is Freestyle Cruising?
Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) offers a unique twist on cruising, they call it Freestyle Cruising. It's the most flexible way to cruise.
Dining
With freestyle cruising there is no set time to eat dinner, you get to set your own time and place. There are multiple restaurants onboard. Most are included in your cruise fare, some are specialty restaurants that charge a reasonable service fee. If you're tired from a day of activities and don't feel like a fancy sit-down dinner you have lots of other choices.
Freestyle cruising allows you to choose from a variety of dining options. If you'd like to show up in shorts, a t-shirt or flip flops for a quick bite to eat at the buffet, you can. However, the formal dining is still available for those who are celebrating a special occasion or for those who just enjoy dressing up. If you'd feel like burgers or Italian, Chinese or sushi, pub food or a steakhouse, the choice is completely yours, and the time is at your convenience.
Free time
Another benefit to Freestyle Cruising is that everyone has the freedom to plan their own day at their own pace.
You decide how to spend your own time — on and off board. Onboard you can choose to participate in activities or enjoy the full-scale gym and spa, relax on deck or unwind in the hot tub. When the ship docks at a port of call, you can stay onboard or take advantage of wide selection of extra fee tours and shore excursions. Regardless of whether you decide to dine upscale or on a lounge chair, or attend a show or catch an in-room movie — the point of freestyle cruising is that you do what you want, when you want to.
