ALL ABOARD! Go to Denali National Park by train if you’re taking a cruise to Alaska

Taking a cruisetour to Denali National Park (before or after your Alaskan cruise) is not just about the destination–getting there is the best part. A panorama domed train that takes you over 300 miles with breathtaking views– scenic mountain ranges, vast valleys with flowing rivers and forests, and a wide range of wildlife. We highly recommend the deluxe train if you want to see all that Alaska’s interior has to offer. Cruising by ocean is just the tip of the iceberg–literally.

What Can You Expect Onboard the Domed Train

Once you board the train, you can choose to sit back and relax in your luxurious and roomy seat and just gaze through the 360 degrees domed windows. Your beverage service-waiter will bring your drinks to you throughout your ride.

Take in the Fresh Air on the Open Air Observation Platform

Princess cruisers love the open-air platform on the bottom deck

If you want to feel and breathe the fresh Alaskan mountain air, then make your way to the observation platform. You can enjoy the view without a window and let the fresh air breeze by you and the sun warm your face. And if you’re a photographer, you can take plenty of pictures with any obstructions.

Dining Room Serves Alaskan Cuisine and More

Didn’t have time for breakfast? The dining room is open and ready to serve breakfast as soon as you board the train. All your meals are included. The dining room is always open and offers a great menu including fresh Alaskan cuisine.

Your Rail Guide Makes Sure You Don’t Miss a Thing

You’ll never have to wonder where the Alaska Range, Matanuska Valley or Hurricane Gulch is because the onboard guide will let you know. The rail guide will point out the wildlife, announce the points of interest and tell stories about the history of the territory.

Where Does the Train Stop?

Depending on the cruisetour you’ve chosen, there are different train depots along the way. The train may depart in Seward, Whittier or Anchorage, depending on your cruise line. Then, depending on which cruisetour you’re on, you can go all the way to Fairbanks. Other depots along the way are in Alyeska, Talkeetna and Denali National Park.

How many trains are there?

There is one locomotive and each cruise line has their own car hooked up to it. Each cruise line provides their customers the same type of luxury and service they experience on the ship. The Alaskan cruisetour train departs at 8:00 a.m. with the exception of Holland America. New for 2014, they offer an exclusive departure at 9:00 a.m.

Chuck, the price of the train varies depending on several things. If you are taking an Alaskan cruise and land tour, the cost of the train is included in your package. There are other land only packages as well where the price would be included as well. The price for just the train ride from Anchorage to Denali also varies depending on the time of the year/season. My advice would be to give us a call at CruiseExperts.com and our knowledgeable travel agents can help you with any questions you have about traveling and/or cruising to Alaska. Call us at (888) 804-CRUIse (2784).
