When it comes to keeping your children happy, Royal Caribbean is sure to satisfy. Aboard a Royal Caribbean ship you will find a plethora of exciting activities for the most adventurous family.
Adventure Ocean Program: This complimentary program is split into three separate groups; The Aquanauts, Explorers, and the Voyagers. Each group offers a variety of activities and play that incorporates fun and learning! As an added bonus every member of the Adventure Ocean Staff holds a four-year degree in education, recreation, or related field. You can register your children for the program once aboard the ship. Children must be toilet trained to participate.
- The Aquanauts: For ages 3-5. Activities offered for the Aquanauts group may be face painting, talent shows, or they may enjoy a superhero afternoon.
- The Explorers: Ages 6-8. Here your child may join the wacky Olympics, play some carnival games, or go on a scavenger hunt! There is plenty to do when hanging out with the Explorers.
- The Voyagers: For cruisers ages 9-11. Some activities offered in the Voyagers group could include x games, karaoke, or spy games.
Teen Programs: Royal Caribbean has split their teen program into two age groups as well. There is one section for cruisers 12-14 that features activities such as arcade challenges, rock wall competitions, and even movie and pool parties in the evening. The 15-17 group has a teen only space where they can chill. Here they may find a dance party going on or an open mic night event, the possibilities are endless.
Nursery Program: Royal Caribbean has an amazing Nursery Program! Fees do apply for the nursery program and can range from $6 to $8 per hour. The nursery is set up for infants ages 6-36 months.
Sitters at Sea: For children ages 1 and up you may want to opt for the sitters at sea program. Available between the hours of 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. this service is offered in your stateroom or in a group setting, it’s your choice. However, stateroom babysitting must be reserved 24 hours in advance and cannot be reserved prior to the cruise vacation. Rates can change but the approximate rate for up to three children within the same family is $19 per hour.
Barbie Premium Experience: Now you can purchase the Barbie Premium Experience package on any RCL ship for the little girl in your life that deserves it all. Your stateroom will be decorated with pink and your daughter will find a take-home Barbie and accessories on her bed when she arrives. RCL has put together several activities exclusively for the Barbie participants. It’s $199 per child for the Barbie Premium Experience, but chances are your daughter is worth it. Its unique experiences like this that will make her feel special and give you both memories for a lifetime.
Dreamworks Experience: For the younger kids in your family Royal Caribbean once again has you covered. Your little ones can meet all of their favorite DreamWorks characters such as Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. The whole family can enjoy watching a 3D DreamWorks film or have breakfast with one of your favorite characters.
Scuba in the Pool: Have you always wanted to get your scuba diving certification? You have that option on Oasis, Freedom, and Voyager class ships that are cruising to the Caribbean. You must be 12 years of age and register for the program onboard. You can choose from several different levels of dive training.
- PADI Scuba Diver Course: For $299 you can have a PADI SeaTrek Dive Instructor teach you the basics and have the experience to dive in two of the best locations in the world.
- Referral: This is an extension of the PADI Scuba Diver Course. You can receive two open water dives for $175 or 4 open water dives for $225.
- Scuba Tune-UP: The Scuba Tune-up is offered for $100 and is a great refresher course for those who haven’t dived in a while.
- Discover Scuba Experience: For only $29.95 you can join a PADI instructor on the pool deck for some first-hand onboard scuba training.
Other Onboard Adventurous Activities: If you have an adventurous family Royal Caribbean is the cruise ship for you! Some of their onboard activities include the FlowRider surf simulator, an ice skating rink, zip lines, carousels, and even a rock-climbing wall. Not looking for that much adventure?
