Best Things to do on your Ensenada Cruise
10 Things to do on your Ensenada Cruise
Looking for things to do on your Ensenada Cruise? You’ve come to the right place! Ensenada is a very popular port stop for West Coast cruisers and there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained. From shopping and sightseeing to restaurants, wine tours, and bars! There is a little bit of everything in this exciting Mexico town just south of the border.
La Bufadora: If you are looking for things to do on your Ensenada cruise you’ve most likely heard of the La Bufadora marine geyser. It’s a very popular tourist stop and there are tons of excursions you can book that will take you there. It’s a beautiful site to see and a must do at least once!
Malecon: I don’t know about you but I am always up for a nice stroll along the water. The Malecon is the sidewalk along the harbor, kind of like Ensenada’s boardwalk of sorts. Here you will find plenty of shopping, interesting art, and Mexico’s largest flag.
Water Adventures: If you are looking for things to do on your Ensenada Cruise try out some of their local water sports. This is a fantastic option if you have kids to entertain and there are plenty of options! From snorkeling to whale watching, there is a little bit of something for everyone.
Bars, Lounges, and Clubs: There are a plethora of clubs and bars that start popping off in Ensenada as soon as the sun comes up! A younger crowd favorite would have to be Papas and Beer. This Mexico chain club is a must see spot for the California crowd. But, if you are looking for a more distinguished party spot you should try Hussong’s Cantina. Although, I’ve never been my boss claims it’s a great spot with a lot of history, apparently it’s one of Ensenada’s oldest establishments. He thoroughly enjoyed his afternoon at Hussong’s with a refreshing Mexican beer and a Cuban cigar!
Historical Sites: Speaking of history, Ensenada has plenty of it! If you are anything like me a trip to a new place is not complete unless I learn about the history of the location. Stop by the Social Civic and Cultural Center of Ensenada or Museo de la vid y el vino where you can learn about the wine industry of Ensenada!
Wine Tasting: Yes, there is a museum in Ensenada that is all about wine! Makes sense considering Ensenada is the Napa Valley of Mexico! There are tons of local venues you can choose from and the wine is delicious! These local vineyards also have some of the best views you can find in Ensenada. So if you are looking for a romantic excursion, a vineyard is perfect!
Las Canadas: If you love outdoor adventures Las Canadas has it all for you. Horseback riding, another romantic Ensenada option. Zip lining for those who love an adrenaline rush! And even a water park, which is terrific for kids!
Shopping: Shopping in Ensenada is amazing in so many ways! When I lived in San Diego we would travel to Mexico for the afternoon just because the shopping was such a great experience. Here is the 411 on Ensenada shopping, many of the items are handmade and you can see the pride of craftsmanship that goes into each peace, plus everything is unique. Also, you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get some great merchandise. You may find many prices are not set in stone; they may be asking for $20 but if you only have $15 ask them. They may be willing to negotiate.
Dining: Who doesn’t love authentic Mexican food? And, it is rumored that the fish taco’s that come out of Ensenada are the best! However, just because you are in Mexico doesn’t mean that your only choice of cuisine is Mexican. You can find Italian, Mediterranean, and American options too.
Brewpubs: Brewpubs are becoming more and more popular in America, it’s more than logical to assume the same trend is happening with our neighbors! My favorite is the Ensenada Brewing Company, they have some award winning beers that taste delicious! Remember some beers will have higher alcohol content than you will find in the states so drink slowly!
