History is in the making as the world’s largest cruise ships meet for the first time!
Last weekend, the three largest cruise ships ever to sail the seas met for the first time! Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and the newest of the three, the Harmony of Seas were together for the first time ever in South Florida on November 4th, 2016. CruiseExperts.com’s very own Marketing Coordinator, Julie Wright was there to witness it and document the historic event! Check back soon for her account of the action.
If you don’t know just how huge these ships are (and to properly imagine the immensity of the three of them together), here are the stats. Each of the three ships weigh over 225,000 gross tons and are over 5 times the size of the Titanic. Think about this: it would take about 16 Titanics to even the scales! Each ship can carry over 6,000 passengers and entertain them on their many (many) decks. The entire populations of towns like St. Augustine (Florida), Golden (Colorado), and Traverse City (Michigan) could fit on these ships. Let that one sink in for a minute.
All three of these ships are amazing examples of architectural and engineering mastery and have helped advance the entire industry. Onboard cruising experience has been unexpectedly changed for the better for all who cruise! Aboard each of these ships, guests will be dazzled by their many spectacular features, including surf simulators, zip lines, lush parks (with thousands of trees and plants!), themed onboard neighborhoods, multi-level suites, aquatic performances, carousels, fine dining, nightlife, VOOM (the fastest internet at sea) and so much more!
As we mentioned before, the newest of these three behemoth ships is the Harmony of the Seas. Just a foot longer than her sister ships, the Harmony of the Seas is officially recorded as the largest on earth! In addition to the features listed above, the Harmony of the Seas boasts a 10-story tall slide, Broadway shows, fine dining venues such as Jamie’s Italian Cuisine by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, and endless other adventures!
These three giants may be seeing more of each other this season as they will all port in Florida’s East coast and sail throughout the Caribbean. Will you be joining them?
