Searching for the best cruises for families? Princess Cruise Line’s Youth programs have you covered.
Cruising is well known to be one of the best options for a family vacation. Why? Because cruising with kids offers the entire family an exciting journey with a variety of activities for everyone on and off the ship. Plus, many cruiselines make it their mission to cater to families and have an extensive list of activities and clubs for both children and teens.
One cruise line focusing on activities for kids aboard a ship is Princess Cruises. The Company has announced plans to enlarge and develop its Discovery at Sea partnership in order to make the onboard experience for youth unforgettable. The expansion will take place starting in 2017 and will include redesigning youth centers and revamping children activities. This increased focus on kids is sure to make any cruise on Princess one of the best cruises for families. Here is what to expect in 2017:
- The Treehouse is for little ones ages 3 to 7. Imagine cruising with kids and bringing them to this magical and whimsical animal and forest themed-children’s center filled with hands-on activities, creatures and more. Children will have a blast playing and having their creative side engaged.
- The Lodge brings the great outdoors to those ages 8 to 12. This cozy lodge type setting offers places for kids to explore, sports-related activities and a lounge for boys and girls to hang out.
- The Beach House is exactly what it sounds like, a “beachy”, surf-themed lounge for young men and women, ages 13 to 17. It is a cool, inviting environment that draws teens in and gives them a safe place to socialize.
In addition to the new children and teen centers, is the expanded MythBusters science activity program. This popular show-themed program is part of Camp Discovery (open to ages 3 – 12) and offers kids multiple hands-on challenges and activities. Survive Alaska is another exciting option for kids and allows them to invent tools that could help them survive the tough environment that makes up The Great Land. For those who love animals and sea creatures, be sure to check out Animal Planet. Here kids can uncover secrets in Shark Attack and also take part in Just Squiddin’ Around, which teaches them about squid anatomy.
Cruising with kids has never been more fun as Camp Discovery also offers PlayStation, Wii, XBOX, and a plethora of board games, plus air hockey and ping-pong tables. If your child loves to dance, he or she is going to want to take part in Princess Cruise Line’s dance classes and friendly competitions. And for children who don’t dance but want to stay active, yoga, mini-golf, basketball and a miniature Olympics setup is available.
For teens who don’t fall into Camp Discovery’s age range, there are plenty of activities to take part in at The Beach House. Dress up parties that include a red carpet, dancing and mocktails are available in the evening. Plus, movies are always a hit from scary box office hits to late night movie nights. Dance-offs and video game tournaments are also on the itinerary!
