Princess Cruises Alaska

Princess Cruises AlaskaEnjoy breathtaking views from the one-of-a-kind Princess Cruises Alaska treehouse!

Looking for an extra “something special” on your Alaska cruise tour? Delight your inner child with a visit to Princess Cruises’ new wilderness treehouse at Denali State Park! The one-of-a-kind structure, which was recently unveiled in the finale episode of Animal Planet’s “Treehouse Masters,” offers unparalleled views of North America’s highest peak.  Guests aboard Princess Cruises Alaska cruisetours will get the chance to visit the unique treehouse at Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, where they can take in breathtaking views of the Alaskan scenery.

Princess Cruises’ wilderness treehouse is one of the highest land-based North-facing viewing areas available, giving guests a unique opportunity to see the south face of Denali from the trees.  To help connect visitors to the beauty of Alaska, the unique structure incorporates materials from around the state, including reclaimed wood from Ketchikan and wooden benches from Palmer. The treehouse is powered by eco-friendly solar panels, to help preserve the environment. The distinctive structure joins four other Princess-owned wilderness lodgings in Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge.

Guests traveling on one of Princess Cruises’ Alaska cruisetours will be able to hike the short “hill trail loop” to access the ultimate Denali views offered by the treehouse. Other highlights include a ride on the Direct-to-the-Wilderness rail service, which allows guests to save time on travel so they have more time to explore all the magnificent Alaska wilderness has to offer.

Princess Cruises’ Mt. McKinley treehouse was created through a partnership with Discovery Communications. The approximately 500 square foot lodge is the first Alaska treehouse designed and created by Pete Nelson, star of Animal Planet’s hit show. The newest addition to Princess Cruises’ Alaska cruise tours is just one component of the cruise line’s Discovery at Sea partnership. The partnership was started in 2015, bringing programming and enrichment activities from popular Discovery and Science Channel shows onboard Princess Cruises to create memorable vacation experiences for the whole family.

During the cruise portion of Princess Cruises’ Alaska cruisetour, guests will get to experience the award-winning North to Alaska program. The immersive Alaska program features entertainment and enrichment activities including local food and beverage offerings, as well as exclusive Discovery Channel and Animal Planet-recommended shore excursions.

New treehouse programming is currently under development and is expected to be announced in the months prior to the summer 2018 Alaska cruise season. Denali State Park, where the new treehouse is located, opens in early June.  The timing is fortuitous, as the months between May to September are the best time to cruise Alaska if seeing wildlife is on your agenda.

The new treehouse highlights Princess Cruises’ commitment to providing an exceptional Alaska cruisetour experience. When you combine Princess Cruises’ new treehouse with the exceptional programming the cruise line offers, it is not surprising that Princess Cruises has a reputation as the best Alaska cruise around. In fact, this dedication to excellence has helped Princess Cruises win the prestigious “Best Cruise Line in Alaska” title from Travel Weekly magazine for 10 years in a row!
