Cruise Through Alaskan Fjords
Your ship, the Maasdam, will spend the next day cruising College Fjord, which is the only area in Alaska where you are surrounded by glaciers on three sides. As you enter the fjord, glaciers on the left side are named for women’s colleges, and those on the right side of the fjord are named for men’s colleges.
Homer, Alaska is where your ship visits the next day. It’s the halibut fishing capital of the world, and guests can choose to take a fishing tour. Other options include great attractions such as the Pratt Museum and Alaska Islands and Ocean Visitor Center. Hiking enthusiasts will enjoy the Grewingk Glacier Lake trails.
Exciting day 10, takes you to Kodiak, Alaska. Nearly 3,500 Kodiak bears reside here providing a great opportunity for a possible sighting. Kodiak sites for visitors include the Baranov Museum, the Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church and the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. You also have the option to participate in a guided shore excursion, such as our Fort Abercrombie State Park Nature Hike.

Spend a day at sea on your ship before arriving in Haines, the adventure capital of Alaska. The activity options you can choose from include rafting, hiking, salmon-halibut-and trout fishing in Chilkat River, and kayaking on Chilkoot Lake.
Your next day is spent cruising the glacier-covered mountains of Tracy Arm Fjord and it’s steep cliffs on your way to spectacular Juneau, Alaska home of the Mendenhall Glacier. You can join our exclusive Mendenhall Glacier, Rainforest Garden & State Museum tour and explore the Tongass National Forest, the Juneau Rainforest Garden and the state-of-the-art Alaska State Museum. You may prefer to choose dog sledding on Mendenhall Glacier. Arrive by helicopter after flying over lush rain forest, and gorgeous glacier blue crevasses and carved peaks. Then you can either help to drive the dog sledding team or relax and just take in the amazing scenery. You’ll have plenty of great photography opportunities.
As you leave Juneau, you’ll enjoy cruising the scenic Frederick Sound on your way to Wrangell, Alaska. In Wrangell you can explore Tlingit culture, hear authentic stories, see intricately carved totem poles, and observe dances at Chief Shakes Tribal House. The tribal house was built primarily by women and by hand.
